10+ Unique Getaways near Ottawa for an Exciting Weekend

It’s fun to get away for a night, or a weekend. There are so many experiences so I’ve put together a list of Unique Getaways near Ottawa to try.

I’ve been exploring places near and around Ottawa for over 10 years now! There are so many wonderful places to see. While I love a good day trip, I’ve been enjoying a few local getaways and I think you might too! It’s fun to get away for a night, or a weekend. There are so many experiences so I’ve put together a list of Unique Getaways near Ottawa to try. I’ll likely keep adding to this list as I explore more this year.

Glamping

Natural Resting Point

Located in the region of Pontiac in Quebec, you’ll find these wonderful luxury domes. Each dome has a private sauna, parking, a full bathroom with running water, and a theme! I had the pleasure of staying in the Vinyl dome, complete with record decorations and a record player! The domes are close to Mansfield-et-Pontefract, where you’ll find a long red covered bridge. Make sure to stop at Cafe Downtown for a bite to eat, or to enjoy live music. This is a great place to unwind for a weekend, as bookings are for a 2 night minimum.

The Gallant Getaway

Located just 40 minutes from downtown Ottawa is this glamping experience in Rockland! The Gallant Getaway has a cabin, and tent experiences. They are working on adding showers and a sauna (to come soon). The cabin is heated by a small wood stove. There is a king size bed upstairs, a compostable toilet downstairs, and a kitchenette with a mini fridge!

The Wakefield Treehouse

The kid in me would love this treehouse in Wakefield! Open year round, the treehouse offers the breathtaking views over Gatineau Park. Perfect for a solo getaway or a weekend trip with your partner or best friend!

Tiny Village – Deep River

Tiny Village is a new company with a few campgrounds around Ontario. The campgrounds have a mix of glamping tiny cottages/domes, RV sites and campsites. I had the pleasure of staying at the Deep River Tiny Village in the Beachfront glamper recently. It comes equipped with everything you need: a full kitchen, a BBQ, a bathroom with running water (and great water pressure), a fire pit for s’mores, canoes/kayaks and a beach front view. The campsite has a beautiful beach, a beach volleyball court, a playground, a water trampoline and a wonderful gift shop at the campsite store.

Hotels/Modern Stays

The Grand Hotel

While Carleton Place may not seem like a huge getaway to a local Ottawan, it’s a great place to visit! I was pleasantly surprised when I was looking for a getaway close to Ottawa and found the Grand Hotel. It’s done up beautifully, and many weddings are hosted here. So you can imagine the beautiful elegant touches you’ll find around the hotel. The Smith & Barrel Pub located in the hotel is also fantastic.

Lofts du Village

Located in the heart of Old Chelsea, you’ll find the Lofts du Village. Not only are the lofts open concept and beautiful, they are within walking distance to the Gatineau Park Visitor Centre, Pub Chelsea, Biscotti and Cie, and the new Distillery and cocktail bar. It’s also so close to the Nordic Spa and the hiking trails in Gatineau Park.

Bellevue Wakefield

There are quite a few unique stays near Wakefield, Quebec. Wakefield is about 30 minutes north of Ottawa, and a fantastic little town to explore. The Bellevue has a few rooms so you could book with a group of friends, solo, or as a couple! The two upstairs rooms can share a balcony: there is a doorway separating the two if you aren’t sharing with people you know.

The Carriage House

Newly renovated in 2024 you’ll find The Carriage House in Carleton Place. Ben and Steph have done a wonderful job with renovating and decorating the space. It’s a cozy, relaxing environment with amazing attention to detail. Don’t forget your bathing suit for the hot tub!

Spas

Wakefield Mill Hotel and Spa

The Wakefield Mill Hotel and Spa is a gem! The Mill is nestled in Wakefield on La Pêche River. The restaurant overlooks the Wakefield waterfall. It is such a serene and beautiful getaway location. You can book packages that includes spa treatments, or just book a room at the hotel. There are also three buildings to book rooms in: the Heritage Mill overlooking the waterfalls, the modern Eco River Lodge, or the Miller’s House (it’s dog-friendly). There’s also plenty to do in and around Wakefield.
