The Yellow Jacket | Best Travel Accessory You Need in your Carry-on

When I first started my Instagram account, I spent hours “discovering” other people’s photos. (Let’s be honest though, I still spend hours drooling over other people’s accounts). My favourite photos by far are the ones with yellow jackets in a beautiful natural scene. I love the contrast of the yellow against almost every backdrop because it really stands out. Yellow is the brightest and most energizing of the warm colors. It’s associated with happiness and sunshine. Put that in any scene in nature and it provides an element of warmth and sunshine. By wearing a yellow jacket in a photo, it provides an immediate subject that attracts the eye. I think it really provides a “wow” factor!

I have two yellow jackets. This one from Aritzia is my favourite of the two and I’ve been considering a warm yellow winter jacket. This TNA Botanie jacket has been a perfect versatile jacket though! I wore it under my wool jacket for my trip to the Netherlands and Germany, brought it to Iceland in February to stand out against the waterfalls, wore it for waterfalls again at Princess Louise Falls and Taughanock Falls, and I wear it hiking around Ottawa/Gatineau and on days when I want a little extra warmth! The highlighter yellow stands out much better than a muted yellow. As you can see, I typically wear it with a pair of black leggings and boots/runners. It really helps the yellow jacket be the standout piece.

Ultimately, I think the best part of the jacket is that it provides amazing contrast in photos. You could pick a bright pink, orange or royal blue jacket for a pop of colour as well!
