Solo travel changed my life. I know, that sounds so grand and over-the-top, but it’s true! My first solo trip was to Europe in 2017 because I didn’t have anyone who was willing to come with me. I wanted to experience St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin before my 30th birthday. It ended up being a whirlwind trip with so much packed into my day I was exhausted but I absolutely loved it. I planned a trip with a friend in 2018 that she ended up not being able to get the time of work so I decided to go by myself and again, no regrets!
Travelling alone helped me discover so much about myself: my ability to problem solve; my love for travel; enjoying time by myself; and knowing that if I ever want to take a trip I don’t need to rely on others to go with me! It also reminded me that I am fully capable of taking care of myself. I enjoy spending time alone (hello fellow introverts). While I admit solo travel is not for everyone, I do think there is a benefit to trying it at least once! You never know: you may love it too!
