Is Passportunities your full time job?
No! I started Passportunities in 2017 after visiting Iceland, but I have a full-time career as an engineer. Part of the reason I still maintain the blog and social media channels is it’s a great creative outlet for me. I’ve been provided with a lot of amazing opportunities here, and don’t plan on making this my full time career.
How can I work with you as a brand, small business or tourism board?
You can email me (passportunities@gmail.com) and we can chat about the campaign and rates! I do accept gifted opportunities; however, I am unable to promise deliverables for gifted campaigns. I would love to try a product or experience and if I’m happy to organically share with my followers. It’s not a guarantee though!
In addition to standard collaborations, I also provide User Generated Content (UGC) that you can use across your own channels. This includes high-quality images, videos, and engaging captions tailored to your brand’s voice and audience.

How Do You Plan Your Travel Itineraries?
Planning my travel itineraries involves a mix of research and personal interests. I usually start by exploring flights on Google to pick a destination – this helps keep the flight cost low! Then, I usually search on Instagram and TikTok for travel suggestions. I might save an iconic photo for a photography shoot, or a restaurant to try! I then dive into blogs and travel forums for recommendations. I also consider the best times to visit each location and map out a logical route. Flexibility is important, though—sometimes the best moments happen when you veer off the planned path!
How do you feel comfortable in front of the camera?
It took me a while to get comfortable sharing myself in my posts and stories! Initially, I was nervous about being in front of the camera, but I started following other creators who offered helpful tips and encouragement. The key is practice; the more you show up on camera, the easier it becomes. I also try to shoot content in the early morning when there are less people around! Just remember: you’ve got this!
How do you shoot your own content when solo travelling?
When I travel solo, I use a lightweight tripod for my phone, which includes a remote control. This setup is much easier to transport than my Nikon Z6II and a traditional camera tripod, making it my go-to choice for capturing content on the go. I find it incredibly useful for selfies, landscape shots, and even time-lapse videos. Additionally, I often scout locations ahead of time to ensure I have the best backdrop for my photos.
I also use CapCut after shooting content. It’s user-friendly and has a range of features that make video editing seamless and efficient, especially for travelers on the go. I often use keyframes to create dynamic effects (such as zooming in or out, or panning across the landscapes). It also makes editing transition videos a breeze!

What are your top 3 travel destinations?
The three travel destinations that are currently on my bucket list are New Zealand, an African safari, and the Cotswolds. However, this list may change as I discover new places I want to explore!
What is your favourite trip?
Without a doubt my trip to Iceland in 2016. I’ve written numerous posts about it, and I often reminisce about the adventure. I traveled with my best friend, camped in a car, and drove the stunning ring road. I can’t wait to return!

What camera and equipment do you use?
For my professional photography, I use a Nikon Z6II with a 24-70mm f/2.8 lens, which allows for versatility in various shooting conditions. I also recently purchased the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which has quickly become a favorite for capturing high-quality photos and videos. The 5x zoom is impressively crisp! In fact, 99% of my videos are shot on my iPhone due to its convenience. Additionally, I just purchased the DJI Neo, perfect for adding stunning aerial perspectives to my content, with six preprogrammed settings that make shooting content a breeze!
How can I find the best photography spots in unfamiliar destinations?
Research is essential! I recommend leveraging travel blogs, photography forums, and social media platforms like Instagram to discover hidden gems and popular spots. Engaging with local photography groups can also provide valuable insights. Additionally, apps like Google Maps and Pinterest can help you visualize locations and find the best angles for your shots. It’s always rewarding to uncover unique photography spots that tell a story about the place you’re visiting.
What has been your most memorable photography experience while traveling?
I have to mention two unforgettable experiences that have profoundly shaped my journey as a photographer.
The first is Budapest. After learning photography for about two years, I travelled to Prague, Vienna, Budapest and Bratislava. In Budapest, I found myself wandering the vibrant streets with my DSLR, capturing the city’s stunning architecture and rich history. I experimented with long exposures, which allowed me to create mesmerizing light trails and silky smooth water effects at places like the Danube River. I also played with framing to emphasize the unique perspectives of iconic landmarks like the Chain Bridge and Fisherman’s Bastion. This trip marked a turning point for me; it was the first time I truly immersed myself in the photography experience while traveling. The joy I felt while capturing those moments resulted in some of my favorite photos to date, making it a special and transformative time in my life.
The second memorable experience was witnessing a breathtaking sunrise in Madeira. As the sun began to rise, I experienced a cloud inversion for the first time. The sky erupted into vibrant hues of orange, pink, and purple, illuminating the rugged cliffs and lush greenery below. I felt a deep sense of peace and connection with nature as I snapped photo after photo, each one more stunning than the last. The beauty of that moment not only solidified my passion for photography but also deepened my appreciation for the natural world. It was an awe-inspiring reminder of the magic that travel and photography can bring into our lives.
